PEARL OYSTER

Pearl oyster:-
◆Generally pearl oysters are found on stones submerged which are called "PAARS".
◆The pearl oysters also found on corals present in the sea.
◆The pearl oyster found at a depth of 9-10 fathoms
◆The pearl oyster found at a distance of 4-5km of the shore
◆These pearl oysters grow 10mm in 4-5 years
◆In India oyster beds present in the esat coast region are more productive than west coast region
FOOD OF OYSTERS:-
◆The pearl oysters feed on foraminiferons,diatoms,larva of other animals,larva of bivalves , nauplius larva,etc
◆The pearl oysters are euryhaline in nature .So they can tolerate high salinity from 24-50%.

General characters:-   Majority of molluscs are marine,some are freshwater forms and other live on land also. Molluscs have soft and unsegmented body.
